Threshold token holders can help power a one-stop platform for threshold cryptographic services by staking the T token and running a decentralized node on the network. Threshold’s Proxy Re-Encryption service—or PRE—is cryptographic middleware for developing privacy-preserving applications and is the first application to go live on the Threshold network.

For anyone running or setting up a PRE node, or who have hired a third-party staking provider to run a network node on their behalf, you can now stake your tokens through the Threshold dashboard. This video will walk you through the simple steps of using the dashboard and explain the relevant terminology.

For token holders who don't have the technical knowledge to run an application node or the interest in using a staking provider to run a node on your behalf, you may want to consider taking part in either a staking or coverage pool; we will put a link in the comments below of known pools.

To stake liquid T tokens, navigate to dashboard.threshold.network and connect your wallet. If you still have legacy Keep or NU  tokens, you can first convert these tokens by selecting the “upgrade tokens” link  in the wallet section or in the top banner.

Under Staking, you will see your current staking balance. To create or add to a stake, click the "go to staking" button. Before entering the amount of stake, there are three variable addresses that you should understand. By default, these three addresses will be set to your currently connected wallet address.

The Provider Address (update UI to remove term node address) is the address for the party authorized to operate on the network. This defaults to the stake owner but can be assigned to a third-party who may run a node on the owner’s behalf.. While this party does not directly control the staked tokens, any misbehavior by this party may result in slashing.

The beneficiary is the address where rewards for staking and participating in the network are sent.  Rewards are distributed on a per-application basis, and are only issued to stakes that run a node for the corresponding application. In the case of the PRE application, if you don’t run a PRE node, you cannot receive PRE staking rewards for your stake.

The authorizer is the address that you delegate the ability to authorize which applications, for example PRE, can utilize your stake. This becomes more relevant in the future as additional applications are added to the network.

If you don't already have a PRE node set up, there is a link to the documentation here, and we hope to provide future videos to help support this process.

Before staking, if you want to preview the requirements and process for running a PRE node on the network, there is a link to the documentation here.

If you are ready to continue, click the stake button. Your connected wallet address is entered by default, or you can modify any of the three before continuing.

Below is a link where you can learn more about the staking contract. Tick the box that you have read the requirements for Threshold staking, and click Stake.

Enter the amount of T that you would like to stake. Note that the current minimum for the network and the PRE application is 40,000 T.  You can also customize the provider, beneficiary, and authorizer addresses once again here and see the link to the staking contract. After reviewing, click sake below.

You'll need to pay a transaction fee to grant permission to access your T and then again to stake the tokens; review the fee and click confirm; once permission is confirmed, confirm the transaction to stake.
