Given how big the Wormhole launch is and the fact that we'll have not only Dan and Anthony from WH on the Twitter Space but MacLane, Matt and Brian, as well, we need to plan the flow of questions so it's tight and compelling.
Nico: kick off and announce each of the guests and their affiliation (Dan and Anthony representing WH)
Ashley & Nico alternate questions (John will join the event and ask questions if my connection is strong enough):
- We’re very excited to have 5 highly capable people on stage with us today, and there are a number of places we could start. But given that Bitcoin is the OG chain that’s ultimately what brought our industry into existence, why don’t we start with the “Bitcoin, everywhere” concept you’ve articulated recently, Matt. You’re a long-time crypto builder; what is it about Bitcoin that got you started in crypto and inspired you to start several highly successful companies including Fold, Keep and Thesis?
- Maclane, you’ve spoken about a group of crypto builders you met early on and who went on to co-found NuCypher with you, Michael also started Curve and remains involved with Threshold, etc. Did you start with a similar fascination with Bitcoin, or was it other technologies like proxy re-encryption that you started building?
- Dan, Anthony and Brian, your backgrounds include Polkadot, Kusama, Alkemi DeFi. Tell us a bit about your crypto journeys leading to Wormhole and Threshold.
- OK, so who would like to start us off on today’s topic by sharing a bit about tBTC’s history and how we got to the current version that launched in February and is being accelerated by integrating with Wormhole? Matt perhaps, as tBTC started at Keep?
- Great, so Dan or Anthony, what it is about tBTC and the Threshold contributor teams that got Wormhole excited enough to write the proposal that led to yesterday’s big announcement?
- And Brian, you’ve been working closely with the Wormhole team. Your perspective on what this could mean for Bitcoin and DeFi?
- Anyone, how do you see the role of tBTC evolving within the DeFi landscape over the next few years, and what are some potential use cases that you are most excited about?
- Anyone, what are some of the challenges faced when bridging assets across chains, and how does the tBTC/Wormhole integration address these challenges?
- (tBTC team) Security & decentralization are critical, and we’ve seen too many examples of projects lacking enough of one or both and ending badly. In terms of security and decentralization, what measures does Threshold Network take to ensure that tBTC remains a safe and reliable option for users?
- And similar question from the Wormhole side, how do you ensure the security and reliability of cross-chain transfers, and what measures do you take to minimize risks associated with asset bridging?
- Anyone, with the growing popularity of layer-2 solutions and sidechains, how do you see tBTC and Threshold Network adapting to these developments and remaining competitive in the DeFi space?
- (tBTC team) What are some upcoming milestones for tBTC and Threshold Network, and how will the upcoming integration announcement impact the project's trajectory?
- Similarly for Wormhole, any upcoming goals for Wormhole in the near future you can share?
