As discussed in our 11/10/22 meeting, I (@John Packel ) propose that each Marketing Guild Committee member commit to certain activities. While each of us may have different bandwidth, intentions and expectations from participation, aligning on a set of core expectations will help us remain effective and aligned as a team.
Committee decisions
- Voting on all critical decisions we put to a vote (e.g., filling committee vacancies, ratifying budget proposals, making major resource investments)
- Making an effort to vote on less than critical decisions - both in the interest of good decision making by the committee, as well as to provide transparency to the community
- Weighing in on major topics discussed (i.e., not allowing the same people to always drive the discussion and decisions)
- Expressing concerns and questions (i.e., not remaining silent if the majority is moving in a direction that warrants more or better discussion)
Objectives & key results
- Owning 1 or 2 activities on the committee’s current OKR list (i.e., being responsible for outlining the sub tasks and providing updates; the owner contributes to the work but is not solely responsible for it)
- Contributing to additional activities, including being willing to volunteer for tasks in an effort to enhance outcomes via full committee participation
- Contributing 8 hours per week of committee work, on average: some weeks will naturally be heavier or lighter than others, but the DAO has entrusted us to invest resources productively - so if one needs help prioritizing activities, ask John or another committee member for assistance
Meetings
- Attending at least the primary hour of the weekly strategy meeting (currently Thursdays at 1pm EST); our goal is to cover the core agenda in 60 minutes, with extensions as needed
- When one will be on vacation or other planned absence, let the committee know in advance; notify by same day if out due to illness
- If one must miss the weekly strategy meeting, post your standup and any other updates for someone to share in your absence
- When one returns, review the meeting notes and minutes to address any action items
- Make an effort to attend important ad hoc meetings (those the committee asks all to attend)
- The committee understands that members have other time commitments, often during business hours, so we agree to be flexible in scheduling to accommodate
