The basic idea of Proxy Re-Encryption (PRE) is embodied by the ability of a proxy (third-party) to transform ciphertexts under the public key of Alice into ciphertexts that are decryptable by Bob. In addition, the proxy cannot learn any information about the encrypted messages. Threshold have taken this a step further; instead of there only being one proxy, the re-encryption is performed by a (user specified) selection of nodes on the network.
